Stillyano Biog

STILLYANO were formed in Devon, England back in 2002 and the five-piece (the youngest being 23, the oldest 30) consists of:

Stilly: Lead vocals, lead acoustic & electric guitars
Dan: Piano, keyboards & backing vocals
Richey: Bass & backing vocals
Dave: Rhythm guitars & backing vocals
Big Al: Drums & backing vocals

Having been gigging in and around the south-west for about two years now, they have gained notoriety for being a band not to be taken lightly or dismissed as "just another local band". They have garnered a reputation as a real treat for those who know how to appreciate quality musicianship, top-notch original material and impeccably tight and talented performances.

Influences cited by the three main songwriters go from Bon Jovi to Bread, Dream Theatre to James Taylor, Paul Weller to Oasis. The mainstay of Stillyano's songs are hook-laden riffs, catchy melodies, attention-grabbing arrangements and accessible, yet poignant lyrics often aimed at those who have lived a little. It is music for those who have experienced a few of life's ups and downs. Their songs can pick you up, bring you round and get right down deep under your skin.

Stillyano are not the type of band to try and invent some short-lived, post-everything, here today/gone today musical genre. Their style is a timeless one: Into the mélange go a lot observations and not a little of themselves. Their music can be a pillow for the heart or a pacemaker for the head, their words a tool for retribution or a tonic for the disposition. They have the ability to make listeners feel like someone else has been there before, and someone else is going their way.

Like any original band, Stillyano find that comparisons can be frustrating but appreciate that they are indispensable. It seems that they have reminded people at times of artists such as Pink Floyd, Foo Fighters, The Rolling Stones and The Doobie Brothers. High compliment indeed. The boys don’t mind…

In the spotlight, the electric slide will slither, the 12 strings will jangle and the wah-wahs will stir your boots and your bones. The piano will sweep and stride, the bass will funk and glide and the 10-piece pearl will drive and detail with precision. Stillyano will draw you in. They will raise the hairs on your neck with their soaring guitar solos, beautiful melodies and multiple harmonies. And then you can hit the floor to their infectious blistering rock romps.

Becoming well acquainted with Stillyano’s music is easy and it will come as no surprise that each Stillyano song takes a long rough ride from inception to presentation and then stands proudly on it's own. Their debut album, “Better Days” includes the first ten songs to do just that (plus one for fun). There are many more in the pipeline. The band are continually introducing new material to their current 90 minute set and will soon be preparing to record their second long-player. A word of advice: Catch this band up close while you can.
