On the Wind
On the Wind is Lynn Patrick’s fourth album of original music. Raised in the wilds of central Florida, Lynn has called Colorado home since 1986. It’s here, in Boulder County, that all of her recordings have been made. This collection came together on Sugarloaf Mountain: just a few miles outside Boulder, but a world away from the city lights.
In the foothills of the Rockies, you really experience the seasons. Both their gifts and their mischief are constantly, often dramatically, in evidence. Many artists choose to live and work in this gruff, beautiful landscape. Inspiration is everywhere—in the wild deer browsing spring grass, the winter blizzards that can keep you shut in (or out) for days, the quivering golden aspens of autumn, and the spectacular lightning storms on summer afternoons.
Most of all, there’s the wind. Sometimes whispering, sometimes roaring, the wind is constantly present and infinitely adaptable. It’s the stream of energy that runs through every season on Sugarloaf Mountain. On this album, it’s also the thread that links Malibu to Italy, Maui to Rhode Island, and a secret garden to the moon.
Lynn’s last two albums, Winnie’s Guitar and When She Dreams, carried her music to every continent on the planet (and possibly beyond). On the Wind is her third all-instrumental collection: another rich, heartfelt, self-assured offering full of melody and feeling that, like the wind, never get old.
This album takes its name from a song about the wild joy of riding horseback on the Colorado plains. Every track is another window on that same world—our world, where horses, dolphins, sailboats, friends and lovers pass through our lives, each one leaving behind its imprint of gratitude and wonder.
From Sugarloaf Mountain to your world, wherever you are, these songs come to you on the wind.c
