Driving Music

‘All the sensibilities of ambient groove but with the added tonal warmth of beautifully played instruments from traditions around the globe.’ - Sydney Morning Herald. Driving Music combines the world music sound of Valanga Khoza’s native South Africa and the European jazz of Leo Dale’s flutes and saxes. This album was recorded with a lot of patience but without losing the spontaneity that makes a great recording come alive. The product is a truly beautiful recording that works for dedicated listeners or equally to influence a mood while you are doing something else. Cover design includes photos of the musicians, all of the instruments played and some self-portraits of the duo that illustrate the warmth of affection that they share. “Having known each other for 12 years, we finally got together for a gig in mid 2000 and instantly had the feeling: This is too good we must record immediately. Several of the tracks on the album (tracks 1, 3 and 4) are from that recording date, the second time we ever played together. Over the next 18 months there were an additional 2 recording dates and we stuck to the same method of - press RECORD and listen a lot.” ‘Driving rhythm with a conversational style of jazz.’ - the Age. ‘Head out on the highway with this disk spinning and the miles just melt away.’ - Adelaide Advertiser
