-- Critically acclaimed Winnipeg-born musician Jeffrey Hatcher is the subject of a new album by Vancouver singer Wendy Bird. Natural Wonder features a star-studded cast of players backing Bird on a set of covers of Hatcher's songs. "Like a lot of people who appreciate honest, literate songwriting, I've been a fan of Jeff's work for many years. I've always felt his work deserves to be better known. So it was natural for Natural Wonder to be built around this incredible collection of songs," says Wendy Bird, who performed with Hatcher in the group The Reachers. "When word got around about the project, I had a number of friends who were eager to get involved. All of these people had a strong affinity for Jeff's songs and I think our shared admiration for his work comes out in the sounds of the record," says Bird. Contributors to the recording include Elvis Costello, Barney Bentall, Colin James, Craig Northey (The Odds), Adam Levy (Norah Jones), and many others. The result is a Nashville style recording that oozes elegance and charm, much of it recorded in old-school, live-off-the-floor fashion. The selections chosen from the vast catalogue of Hatcher songs reflects a perfect match to the vocal talent of Wendy Bird. The arrangements are both rich and simple at the same time. This is an incredible record that showcases the talent of the song writer and all of the world class artists who have contributed.
